fzr400 17 inch back wheel conversion

Due to lack of choice for 18 inch tyres I intend to put in a 17 inch rear wheel, I already have an fzr600 3he back wheel fitted, made life bit easier when I dropped in the 600 engine. Does anyone know if the fzr600 foxeye wheel would be a straight swap, I'm sure the rear disc is the same, I know the sprocket spacing is the same. I can get a complete back wheel for a good price. Would I need to raise the suspension baring in mind it has a 160/60 tyre?

I think you'll need to change the swingarm, although I'm sure if the wheel width will fit.

No, sorry.
The Foxeye wheel is wider than the 3HE wheel and only just fits in the 3TJ swingarm using very narrow spacers and about 15mm machined off the caliper hanger, and the 1WG swingarms are narrower than the 3TJ one.
The best thing to do, in my opinion, would be to find a TRX850 (alloy) swingarm and use that. The TRX, Foxeye and Thundercat wheels are the same and use the same spacers, and your 3HE caliper hanger is also used on the Foxeye.
You'll need to narrow the swingarm and make up some top hat bushes to reduce the pivot diameter to 16mm from 20mm but it's a very easy conversion- I did it on the 3EN1 I had last year, and I'll be doing it again on the 3EN1 we got to build into a 4/6.
It's better than doing the 3TJ rear end swap, just because parts are more readily available- there are loads of Foxeye, TRX and Thundercat rear wheels out there and not many 3TJ ones.
Your shopping list would be-
TRX swingarm, spindle, spacers and adjuster blocks.
New swingarm bearings
TRX/Foxeye/Thundercat rear wheel
There'd be about a 6mm drop in ride height (in theory) with a 160/60-17, but you could easily get that back with shorter dogbones.
