after a quick browse on the site i cant find what the original tyre sizes are for my bike, i have recently bought it very cheaply off someone who owned it for 3 or so year who just left it at the back of his garage! So just to check, should it have a 16" on the front and a 17" on the rear? its a nc29 1991 model.

Someone's put the 16" front off an early fireblade on your bike. Interesting, I bet yours is the only one like that.

would it harm anything if i left it on? or do i need a 17" on the front?

it is not ideal and tyres are not as easy to come by for 16 inch wheels
