Hi Guys,

Today i just found out there was a problem with my bike, i decided to take it out for a ride to work, Last time i rode it was 3 days ago, bike started up all good warmed up, took it to work, when i finished work i started my bike up but it wouldn't start up, the lights kept dimming & then the lights died out. I had to clutch start the bike to get it home,

when i got home i took my bike apart to check the fuse box & starter relay fuse for any blown fuses, all the fuses were fine, then i checked to see if the regulator/rectifier was burnt but it was fine. When i start the bike it, it makes a zzzz sound like an electrical sound, could it be a dead battery?

Sounds like a dead battery, the noise will be the starter solenoid clicking. A quick way of checking the battery is by checking the voltage with a multimeter.

When you get a new battery, check the whole electrical system over for faults. The battery might have died because of overcharging through a faulty reg/rec or generator.

If there's a fault there's a good chance it will quickly kill your new battery also! All the electrical system checks are detailed in the haynes manual.

Common probvlem, just make sure to fix it properly and it won't happen again.
