Nc30 rear shock & gearing

My bike currently has STD gearing on brand-new DID o ring chain and renthal sprockets which I want to keep, can I run a 14 front gear with the same chain and rear sprocket and adjust it up or will it be too long?

Also I can't help thinking that my shock is 21 years old. It seems to work ok but what alternatives are there for a straight swap? I guess it may aswell be an upgrade if I'm going to bother changing it but I don't really want to be hacking at my battery box and relocating the rear coil. Cost wise, it's a road bike, so not looking to blow my brains out on nitron or similar.

Are there any cbr600 or similar with a remote reservoir instead of fixed so it won't foul any original battery or coil mounts?

Thanks

Ryan

From little search I can't find a rs250 shock. Cbr, r6 and gsxr 6 & 750 seem to be in abundance but wouldn't know which to go for. They all look like the battery box would need modding so I guess it depends which is best.

Thanks re the chain :)
