exhaust packing muffler trouble

sooo on the rebuild...

trying to put the exhaust back on, the join where there front cylinder pipes join the rest of the exhaust uses packing mufflers. Last time i did this they weren't really long enough (from david silver) and it blew a bit, I seem to remember the packing muffler going in reasonably ok though. This time I've brought some exhaust paste and sealing it riiight up. But this time the packing mufflers are a right pain to get in, did one but the second one was a complete disaster. So i got to buy another one.

Any tips?

Also the paste requires the engine to be run for 10 mins for it to cure the paste, obviously i can't do that now because i can;t get the other exhaust on. Will I have to re do that one as well?

very frustrated!!

shouldnt have to re-do anyone as long as it is sealing

They're a very tight fit, they can be difficult to install. Check that all the old material has been removed.

I bought new ones for mine, but had difficulty fitting them so ended up using the old packing. No tips from me sorry!

They only have to fit fairly well for them to seal properly using the pipe clamps.
