ive purchased another swingarm and i plan on fitting it while i prep the other for one powdercoaters..

is there any thing which needs to be changed while i swap it over?

ive never removed and re-fitted as swingarm before so im a little clueless..

The only difficulty is the castle nuts, everything else is fairly simple.

Do you have allen key sockets? Don't even attempt to remove the linkage bolt with an allen key, you'll round it off and/or scratch everything. You must remove all bearings from the swingarm and linkage (if you're having that done) before sending for coating. Powder coat is about 1/2 a milimeter thick, bear this in mind and ensure you or the coater masks all bearing seats. Might be a good idea to have the area where the axle passes through the swingarm masked also, as otherwise this might not allow the spacer to sit really flat on the arm. Put some old screws in the chain adjuster bolt thread, or they'll need re-tapping.

The other thing which might not be obvious is that the chain really goes "through" the swingarm on nc23/29, you must split the chain and use a new connecting link if removing the swingarm. Why not get the one you have in your hands powder coated, then you only have to swap everything over once?

i have a split link of my bike atm, if i take the chain off, do i need to replace orings ?

and because the swingarm im getting is in better condition, so i want to bring my not so good swingarm up to scratch then sell the good one once im done with it..

If you mean a spring link, you don't have to replace the o-rings (if you can catch all of them!) but ISTR you are supposed to use a new spring clip. Not 100% but considering the damage a snapped chain can cause, I would if I could get hold of one.

Fair enough reason, but considering a good swingarm is only worth £5 or £10 more than a beaten up one, I would personally save myself the hassle. Yes it's an easy enough job once you get started, but it'll still probably take you half a day depending on your spannering level.

Powder coat/new bearings then just the one swap to do.
