Not scary, best fun you will ever have. If its a road bike do the normal mot checks, good chain (oiled) and tyres, take off the mirrors, tape up the speedo and enjoy.

Cadwell for the win.
Make sure it is sound, it runs and you are happy with it.
You will not be the slowest in your group so don't worry about that.
stick some dates up..Cadwell TD needs to be done and a 400GB TD is long overdue!!

Re: 1st ever track day, and on fzr 400. scary? or not to bad
i will be doing my first ever trackday on my nc30 at cadwell on the 18 of june, but its a novice only day, so if like the guy who im going with your a bit worried about the whole thing maybe it would be a good taster?
if im honest im not sure what to exspect of the whole day and if nothing else it will be a laugh and someting to cut my teath with and all that,
the guy im going with (called dan) will be on a drz 400 sm
they (mine and his) are both road bikes and will have the basic checks as CMSMJ1 mentiond no slicks nothing 'special' as they will be how we get to and from the track also, is it a road or track bike you'll be on?
Cheers, Bill

A good thing to keep in mind is - dont worry to much about people around you, keep to your line and if there are faster guys on track they will come past as and when. If you do a novice day, that would be a great idea much more level playing field and everyone will be learning the track.
P.S. trackdays are very addictive, you will love it

You will find vickers on cb500's and real fast guys on R1's so dont worry about how fast it is.
The whole day is a blast and the best fun on a bike, you will go home saying when's the next one.

I did one of those last year, was pretty good.Bill wrote:sorry for the delay, but i booked the novice day with MSV for cadwell and if you are a first timer they are doiin 20% off atm, gutted to recive that email AFTER i booked lol! and yea the level playing feild is what we were after wont feel like a slow-in-the-way-tart. no presure to be good at anything no track vetraiins and all that :D
Was my first time round a track other than an instructor lead day. Few jitters but once you realise some of the 'novices' were slightly better (I did see some tyre warmers despite what it said) and just let them whizz past you, you'll be reet. Like someone else said, stick to your line anyone quicker will find a decent way round you.
Best of luck, I was thinking of doing the 18th June Cadwell too. I'll let you know if I'm going!
