Just A Quick Thank you to everyone thats helpd me along the way with getting my nc24 running again she started up yeasterday after 18 months of no use and being apart almost first time (battery was shagged on the first atempt) have afew litle niggles like the temp guage reading hot all the time and the rev counter flickering but not working but im pretty sure these are just shity contacts in the electrical blocks. so thank you all im sure i will need some more help soon lol.................

Rev counter reading full hot is a bad earth.

This particular earth connects to the cross bracket that the front two coils are mounted to, you'll see it on an earth tag, make sure the wire is ok and it is right. (8mm head M6 bolt)

Need to remove top and bottom air-box to see the coil bracket but carbs can stay put

had a look at the earth today and atm it bolted underneath the coil bracket on the far right hand side where the bracket bolts to the frame is this wrong? does it have its own earth bolt like the main frame earth cheers

nope it doesnt, as long as it is connected to the frame that is ok.

that is the earth for the clocks though, if you remove it youll see the temp gauge goto hot.. if it is secure and not loose its either

theres a break in that wire to the clocks

either way easy to fix.

try wigglign it with the ignition on, if the temp gaguge moves broekn wire

right im baffled by this temp guage its not going all the way to hot and its not staying at cold either the earth is metal to metal and the wire isnt broken, once the bike is running the temp guage moves when its getting warm, could it be the temp sender or the clock itself as i have had it open at one point.......

hmm.

If you remove that earth tag and turn the bike on you should notice it go to full hot.

Otherwise, run another eart from the dial to the frame and see if that cures it.

could be the temp sender, pull it off and see what happens
