Stupid noobie NC24 questions ;)

Hey guys, been using the search button the last couple of days but just wondering about a couple of things,
first off, is the CBR600RR shock the only shock to fit the NC24 ? disregarding aftermaket shocks like maxton etc not too worried about fitting one but am concerened about the seat height/ride height being altered, Im a shortarse and fancied the vfr cos of the low seat height tbh ;)
secondly I took the front subframe off over the weekend and cleaned it up and was surprised at the condition of the fastenings for a bike of its age but would like to replace as many bolts etc with stainless jobs but don't know the common sizes, eg M6, M8 etc .
One last question, I appear to have rust in the tank, Im still waiting for the key to arrive but can see flaky rust through the breathe pipe cover, how do you guys remove the rust from a tank ?
Sorry if this has been posted before, just can't find the threads
thanks
Stew

Rust in the tank.

Put some parafin in there along with an old bicycle chain and shake it around, flush it throughly afterwards (remember to remove petrol tap first)

Fastners.

Most bolts are M6 or M8 JIS (Japanese standard) which means they will have 10mm and 8mm heads.

If you are unsure take your bolts out and goto a fastner shop. Most of the 'kits' on the net for Japanese bikes will fit no problem.

Just make sure the pitch is the same before putting them on.

you could fit pretty much anything if you have the tools and skill to do it, mesure the length of the shock and then go searching to see what else is available.. a common one is the RGV250 shock (I think RGV) with a stronger spring.

Thanks Neo, heard the one about the bycycle chain also had a look at some vids on youtube for some stuff called metal rescue, will give it a go anyway, CMM also advised filling the tank one third full of aquarium gravel and attching it to cement mixer, thought it was an aprils fools at first, but apparently not :o will check out the RGV 250 shock as well
Thanks
