Hi, Ive just become a site supporter and thought I should introduce both myself and more importantly the bike
this me...

Image

and this is basket case, or basket as he's become affectionately know around the house

Image

I paid the princely sum of £175 for basket and Its going to cost a few quid to put her right I reckon but it will be laff if nowt else, the bike is being funded out of my RAF reserves wages which come through every first of the month so its not going to be a quick project but should be ok. I hope to update the thread as often as I can and would welcome any constructive criticism or if that's not forthcoming a bit of abuse will do just fine
One last thing, I've already had a warm welcome and a bit of advice given to me on here, so thanks
:rocks:

Couple more pics to show in pre rebuild condition
don't know if the forks are goose'd or not tbh, its mostly surface corrosion in that one area

the bike's in pretty good nick for a bike of its age tbh, doubt my old SV would be in that state after 24 yrs ;)

I doubt any SV would last 24 years. Ten years at a push if it was left in the climate controlled showroom

Welcome to part 2 of my painfully slow resto project, mostly due to working excessive hours recently I've not had the time to get much done, however after respraying the front subframe and refitting it to the bike I noticed it looked slightly out of line on the n/s compared to the o/s, so I had a closer look at the nose cone and as suspected on removing the blob stickers it was revealed that in fact the bike has been down the road on its n/s, no surprise really for a bike of its age. The repairs look good to me except where extra holes have had to be drilled to allowed for the mirrors to be repositioned after the drop, have a look

and here

and lastly here, there's a bit of cracking in the laquer (?) as well but I'm not too concerened as I'm planning a respray anyway

Anyhoo, one of the nice things about working excessive overtime is getting the money on pay day so I'm now wondering what to do about the nose cone / front sub frame, should I just except the inevitable battle scars of an old bike ? or replace both the cone and sub with better stuff ? or attempt to tweak it by bending the sub frame back into place, tried it on an SV650 once with no discernible results really and that bike really was battle scarred ;). Anyway thanks for having a look and if anyone has any tips they can offer then please feel free to throw em my way.
Cheers
