just rebuilt a set off later type cartridge forks new bushes seals maxton springs shorter pre-load spacers etc although i thought i was careful when removing the fork tops to replace the springs/spacers it looks like i have made a boo boo when replacing the tops to the damper rods on both legs , the problem i have is both brass rebound screws have a different range of adjustment :? although i thought i replaced them on the same position by loosening the locknut and spinning them off. can anyone talk me through the procedure for setting the tops to give equal adjustment ie both rebound needles giving same amount of turns on each screw . did a search but couldnt find any info so any help would be great thanks.

You should screw the top bolt off the adjuster, not remove adjuster from the damper rod to aviod loosing calibration.

Check how many clicks on each adjuster, then loosen locknut and turn adjuster on damper rod, further down for less clicks, up for more.
It will be trial and error until you get it right, the final tweeking takes a few goes.
You should end up with 15 clicks on each.

Dave.

thanks dave, i must have turned damper rod at some point with tops removed and yes can see your wisdom of removing the caps only after my folly  never gave it much thought as i always used the haynes manual method of undoing the locknut and removing the tops , both are well out getting only about 8 clicks on one and 11 on other cheers davy
