Since I need to change the fork seals (right one is leaking :( ) i need some way of lifting the front wheel off the ground! What do you guys reckon the best way of doing this is... a steering head adaptor and stand, or an abba stand kind of thing?? Also, does anyone know of the best place to get one for a good price/anyone want to sell one???

A steering head stand is what I use, makes all front end jobs pretty easy.

A car jack under the exhaust (with sidestand down) also works for those on a budget!

Careful with this method. Thats how i created a leak between the downpipes and exhaust collars. I know they where on their way out but supporting the bike this way didn't help.

This was my method when doing the forks.

Wish i had bought my abba stand before hand though.

You know anyone you can borrow an under-yoke stand from?

I haven't got a picture but essentially I had a rope under the steering head through a strong engine hook on the garage roof which i twisted, using a kart steering column, to lift it, then got my son to hold while I removed the forks and replaced them with a kitchen stool so he was able to let go, very cheap and cheerful as long as you have a son/mate/wife/passer by to assist. By the way a brick behind the rear wheel was an essential aid too.

Got the rope, got the son

Now if I could just get a cheap garage I'd be made up ! lol :D

 I used a steel bar through the top of the frame near the yokes and 2 tall bar stools, I lifted it on myself using the steel bar resting on one stool to leaver it up then slid the other stool under the end of the steel bar. also used a few bits of wood as packers to raise the height up to get the front wheel of the ground. It restricts access a bit but it works.
