I picked my new, well old really, NC24 on mon night :) first impressions seem favourable, I'll get some pic's up when I can, all seems not too bad, the engine works and the owner has given me a complete garuntee that if it doesnt run he'll get me another, he's a mate so thats good, the tank however has had the breather pipe left off and I can see rust in there, trouble is he cant find the keys so cant open the tank to see how far the rust has gone, I suppose I could take the filler cap off but am on 5 night shifts now so not really too worried for a few days. The wheels are pretty sound but chipped paint is the order of the day and a bit of surface rust on the fork tubes, rear subframe and front subframe, I dont want to spend a fortune on it so may well just clean up the subframes and hammerite then black or something, the fairings appear to be originals but need new fittings to attach them. I'm going to spend a bit of time just assessing it and not rush in and balls it up as its my first attempt at doing an old bike up, anyway I'll post up some pics asap
Cheers
Stew

Well there's a few minor issues with it, needs a battery, starter solenoid, fuse box, two new tyres and the chains goosed so will prob throw a chain and sprocket set at it plus the front and rear subframes could do with a tidy up but its seems honest enough so I'll just take my time and see how i get on with it.

Varta YB9-LB battery, best one for the bike, will last a lot longer than standard cheap ones.
CHECK the charging system fully before you replace the battery, these bikes are notorious for having crap reg/rec's.
As a battery gets old it cant take as much charge, the RR burns the excess off as heat, since these are quite flimsy they die and either under/over charge the battery, potentially killing the battery. If your also unlucky it will take the Genny out too.
I've had to replace the RR / Genny and Battery on a few of them, costs about 130.00 for new genny / RR and battery.
I should have a fusebox spare and most likely a starter solenoid, i'll have a look the weekend, but for price of postage and packing and there yours.

I think that size is the maximum allowed, try 800x600, that should be fine.
