I have recently bought a new toy for summer, a 1995 nc35 which is a little rough around the edges, there is currently no ends weights on the bars and i have looked down the handle bars and there is no thread to screw the weight into? any ideas would be apreciated, thanks.

IIRC the bar end comes with a wedge (with threaded hole in it) that fits inside the bar, as you tighten the bar end the screw pulls the wedge towards the end of the bar and holds the bar end in place.

Ah I see, it's just I have been looking at bar ends on the dreaded eBay and it just shows the actual end and the long screw.

That sounds like a "quill" fitting on an old-school bicycle handlebar.
Are they so different from nc29 then?
Here's a broken one for comparison.

Maybe I'm confusing my pushbikes and motorbikes - I'll check my RVF in the morning, see what's there...

The wedge and the screw is how bar-end mirrors are usually fitted

Just had a look at your thread and the picture of the fitting, where did you get the new fittings from as second hand would be rather hard to come by if they are so hard to get out?
