Couple bolts missing....

Hi guys, problems mounting on this bike I must admit.

Whilst up close to the sump ive noticed a large bolt on the left front side of the bike hanging out, its clear from looking at it that the thread is very worn on the mount and the bolt has been given a chemical metal treatment of some sort to hold it in

After that I noticed a rather worrying lack of bolt at this mounting point again on the left at the rear cylinders

Also spotted a cracked header bolt hole with a missing bolt so one header is held in with only one bolt :(

Have I been riding around on a deathtrap or are these auxiliary mounts or somesuch? Or is the engine being held in with magic??

was wondering what these mount holes are at the front of the engine, just at the right, beside the header in the pic:

So..was it crashed?

They are engine mounts - the lower front ones are redundant on NC30s..but are used on NC35s

What was the crack with this bike? Private sale? Got any warranty?

I'd be very wary of whether the frame is sound and also check the rest of the engine mounts as they are prone to snapping off in a crash..

Theres signs of an off or two, dont see how an engine replacement points to a crashed bike and bent frame straight away? only had the bike around a month it was a private sale and the previous owner didnt mention anything major

Do you know if the engine has been replaced?
I think what CMSMJ1 is saying is just to check the engine/frame mounts are in one piece and whether the frame is straight. Especially if it looks like it's been in a crash.

Interesting one there.

Perhaps a combination of being crashed (which would break the bolt) and a replacement motor (or at least motor out) which would explain the missing bolt, as usually they are siezed in to fook so I cant see it vibrating out.

Does the engine no match up with the V5?

It would be worth having a good look over the frame just incase.

This should be the fiche you need for the engine bolts and spacer(s) your missing.

If you find that it doesnt fit this is a classic sign the frame or mounting points are bent after a crash as the engine is difficult to get back in / take out..

Hope its just bad maintanance

hmmm i hope so too. Cheers lads, i assume its parts 14 and 22 in that partsfiche? I cant see the same little bracket in the picture but they fit the bill. Anyone know the measurement of the spacer? Not much point in me measuring the gap if the frame is supposedly bent to bits

Yep, my train of thought too... perhaps that the engine needed work and was removed (or replaced if it blew up) and the guy who put it back together was crap.

It can happen that the frame / moutings are bent after an off but im sure you'll be able to get something sorted

with the parts fiche il get the bolts off me dad who can get them at work and i guess il use washers to full in the gap since i cant get the proper measurement for the spacer

is rick slow to get parts off? I sent him an email yesterday for gaskets as hes the only place i can find that stocks all the ones i need without buying an entire kit, but i need them sooner than later
