recently i noticed that when i am on reserve, the bike feels slightly choky. just very slightly! i ride my NC35 almost everyday so i can notice when the bike performs slightly differently

any ideas where the problem might be coming? it runs fine when i am not turned to reserve...

its shouldnt make any difference, unless the filter is damaged on the tank in the reserve section and that the tank internally is dirty and theres crap lying low!

i dont know where people get the psycological idea about reserve, whoever made the rumour of reserve section on tanks not to be used needs shooting. all it does is use a lower fuel tube just to indicate your running low.

once youve seen the way it works you understand its nothing to worry about.

could my filter be choked?

actually i use my reserve all the time. i normally top up the tank when its almost totally out of fuel.

i was suspecting more along the lines of having some water in the bottom of my fuel tank cos its been raining like crazy here recently...

best thing i can suggest is to drain the tank, take the tap out and check,

youll know if yo have water, and also youll see the state of the reserve tap filter.

I've never understood the idea of running till near empty.
I understand running till reserve, then filling up... But filling a bike is so incredibly cheap.

After filling your tank, there's going to be so much crap at the bottom.

hahah let me explain to you, from the point of view of a young student who is working part time to fuel his passion for bikes. not forgetting i need to spend on social gatherings, girlfriend, and on my life bascially.

it costs me 35 dollars to top up a full tank in Singapore. However it costs me 15 dollars to top up a full tank in Malaysia(neighboring country) which is 8km away from my home. so every week when my fuel is almost finished, my friends and i will head over across the causeway to Malaysia to pump petrol and just hang out

if i just fill up regularly, then it would defeat the purpose of trying to save some money

over a period of time, the savings are pretty significant... especially for a student...

Fair enough, I cannot imagine the fuel over there would be of the greatest quality.

Bloody European's and they're nice fuel!

Maybe you boys could meet up, say, a little earlier on... maybe even twice a week! Spend some of your hard earned savings on a soft drink :)

I know how you feel though, being an apprentice for 4 years was the main reason for me buying a bike.

hahah we pump either shell, mobil or caltex. the fuel we pump here is ron 98(singapore) or ron 97(malaysia) with the occasional V-POWER fuel treats we give to our bikes. if im not wrong, people in USA are using much lower grades of petrol so i guess nothing much can go wrong here..


anyway its just that Singapore imposes alot of taxes on its citizens. for example, a pack of cigarettes here costs 12 bucks but over at Malaysia, it just costs 4 bucks. Cost of living here is pretty damned high..

and i havenft even explained about COE. we have to pay a certain amount of money every 10 years or the bike has to be scrapped. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certificate_of_Entitlement)
