Forks on nc30 K and L models

Hi folks, i have two nc30's. One is on the road and in use. the other i'm building up for the road and track day use.
My problem is that i had to have my forks rebuilt on my road bike a while ago. I ordered new parts from honda (which were very expensive as you would expect) using my bikes frame number and had a local garage rebuild them. Nothing was out of place, and i was sure that they were the later type forks (seeing as my road bike is an L model).
Long story short, i now have 2 sets of forks as i kept getting bust internals. Bought some new internals for my race bike project to put into the 2nd pair of forks i had (The original and identical to the ones from the road bike) assuming they were later type forks.
Now i'm being told by the garage that they are earlier type forks. How can this be if i've ordered parts directly from honda for an L model? i thought they used later type forks? they do in the haynes manual.
I've checked my frame number, it is definitely and L model.
Anyone know whats going on here?
