Jetting question

Ok, put a new tyga exhaust on my nc30, mechanic done some stuff to the carbs or jets (or something - not very clued up :( ) and was advised that the bike would not need dyno jetting since its been jetted already?? It runs really nice compared to what it did before but after letting it run for 10 -15 secs it idles really rough and cuts out. Do you think it needs to be dyno jetted?

Thank you

Hi. Both my nc's run around 1800rpm's when warm. Warm your bike up and check the revs if it's lower than that turn idle adjuster screw clockwise until the revs pick up a bit. The idle adjuster is on the left side poking through the infil panel under the choke.

as kris said you may need to adjust the idle, i recall you buying a tyga maggot :o

and that may give you a feeling its idleing funny due to the sound, i have the tyga short can and its loud but not as loud as the maggot, buit it does sometimes play mind tricks on the ideling and then when you look at the tacho gauge its fine

what jets did the guys fit?

id recomend 118F 120R with that set up even that may run a TAD rich, ive hopefully rectified mine, with a K&N panel filter, but will be dyno testing in about a months time im just waiting for my HRC unit to sell so i can get an ignitech on :)

Am running 116/118 DJ main jets with slip-on race can, K&N filter and Ignitech with 'HRC-2' map and +2 on the rear sprocket.

Goes like shit off a shovel and idles perfectly

Hi,

Porndoguk - yes I have the Tyga Maggot. Trust me when I say it is ridiculously loud...... Earplugs are a must!!

I will adjust the idle, It kinda makes sense you guys saying that, my boyfriend took the bike for a spin when I got it back and decided to fiddle about with the idle....... But he always knows best!! ;)

Not sure what they did to the jets, I do know he said he copied off another nc30 with a race can fitted......

To be honest the mechanic was a bit of a twat, not entirely convinced he knew what he was talking about. And my freshly resprayed tank came back with a chip in it...... :x

Anyway, I will get her out later and adjust the idle if need be. Will let you know if it solves the problem.

Forgive my ignorance but what is +2 on the rear sprocket?

2 more teeth. makes (first gear in particular) acceleration better, much easier to pull away without slipping the clutch on these. combined with the other mods it make my bike feel crisper :)

Get your BF to whip the carbs off and check settings/jets. Atleast your mech has been upfront and admitted he has no idea about V4's and i imagine the maggot is a bitch of a can to jet for, ive never been brave enough to use one  the racefit mega can i had while ago put me off super loud cans for life!

+2 on the rear sprocket is a good combination for road riding

:plus: for checking the jets. Never assume they are right/standard - the GSXR750 I'm doing up should have 117.5 mains but I found 100s in it! No wonder it ran like a sack of shit

I had been told my nc35 had been tuned and jetted. Only to find out, when I pulled the carbies out later, it had standard 108's in it.

*sigh*
