I was intending to restore the NC24 to it's former glory but my recent move into the world of racing on a budget has made me decide to turn her into a race bike to cut my teeth on. I've just started the prep work this last weekend but there's still a fair way to go. I'll keep this updated.

ill be keeping an eye on this thread - im doing the same thing, although mines pretty much going to be standard (apart from some of the road things removed, Lights...who needs lights anyway?!?) until i can ride it like a man and not a complete sissy.

Then the real fun begins...

Have you considered an NC30? and a ZXR400?

I'm just thinking about when you say budget...

It has better brakes, better suspension and better tyres right off the bat.

I have tracked the NC24 and upgraded mine quite a bit but by the time you have spent the money to make it competitive you could have just brought an NC30 which has many upgrades available for it (fireblade calipers bolt on etc)

The 37mm forks on the 24 are very soft and the standard wheels don't allow a good choice of rubber. A stock 30 with BT090's is going to be much easier to ride quick on a track.

I'm a fairly quick rider and even riding like a suicide squad leader my ZXR annihilates my laptimes on the NC24. >.<

Even buying cheap parts, if something is work, such as forks or calipers do you really want to be racing with defective parts? The overhaul costs can be quite high for parts you can't make yourself.

However I do like the 24 on the street
