Does anyone know the diameter of the Fuel tube for a NC24 that runs from the fuel tap to the t-piece connection that takes fuel to carbs

Mine is a bit small (the fuel pipe that is) and is overstretched to fit so any time I move the Tank is springs a leak.
I can see that David Silverspares sell 1m lengths of fuel tube but I'm not sure what the Diameter should be

Thinks its the same as the NC30 8mm ID

8mm bore and 12mm outer diameter. Any local motor factor should let you have a short piece for a few pennies.

It's supposed to have a metal spring clip on it to stop it being pulled off.. that pipe is really small, you have enouhg space to life the tank up a couple of mm, put your hand underneath and disconnect it in standard size.

If you get an aftermarket hose make sure it is fuel hose and not generic rubber hose as itll get eaten away by the petrol, also make sure that if you make it long enough it doesnt crease up or go below the carb level as these bikes are gravity fed fuel

I measured 46cm so I think it was kinking when tank was seated down properly.

Also it seems to be to narrow - I measured and it was 12mm outer diameter and 8mm ID as it should be - this is at the narrow section after I cut the end off. If you look at the ends you can see it is streched to fit on fuel tap and other end - this measues about 13mm ID. I had real trouble getting it off the fuel tap.

So if it was the correct length and i had just enough room to get my hands under there is no way I could attach or remove as it is a pig of a job

I measured the fuel tap section and it is 12mm in diameter, so there is no way an 8mm pipe will fit easily on this, the last time I had to stretch the ends with a plastic tube so I could attach

Should I be using a bigger fuel hose - 12mm ID?

Thats miles too long, and the wrong size of pipe.

The whole fuel tap looks werid to me.

Have a look here at the microfiche.. the fuel line is number 4, it is only a short piece.

Part number 8 is the thin vaccumn hose, yours looks miles too big and doesnt look like it is fitting properly... the tap doesnt look right though

Agreed, that doesn't look like a standard NC24 fuel tap

Bloody hell, the fuel pipe on mine is a way to long as you say.

If this is a non-standard fuel tap would this be a problem, can I get a larger diameter pipe and cut to right length and fit.
Do you see this causing any issues?

The bike has been running with this fuel tap(it is modified for Gravity fed) and it appears to work ok until I have to remove tank to work on it then I disturb fuel pipe and it must be getting compressed as it is too long.

I suppose what I'm asking is does it matter if the fuel pipe is a bit larger as the bike will take the fuel when needed or am I missing something?

That fuel tap is exactly the same as my NC24. I'm using fuel hose with a 12mm or half inch ID, it works fine. As long as the fuel is being sent to the carbs and the vacuum tap is working properly you shouldn't have any problems.

Ah, great, I'll get some new fuel hose, the correct diameter for this tap and that should stop these problems.
