Sorry for starting a new thread with a n00by question, I know I already have a thread on my exhaust but I need a quick answer.

Pidcock Honda is closed today, I want to get my exhaust back on today as I'm working long days for the next 5 days so won't get chance then. Rang CMC Yamaha in Nottingham who stock some Honda parts, they're waiting on Honda to call back with a part # so they can tell me if they've got it in stock. BUT the guy said if I bring an old gasket down, he can try and match it with one they have in stock.

So my question is, are exhaust gaskets pretty much universal so long as they're the same size (I'll just lay the old on the new and see if they're about the same).

Leaving in 30 minutes as I have to pick someone up who lives near CMC at the same time, any help is appreciated.

Which gasket do you need? the ring or the tube type one?

If its the ring type there pretty standard amounst a lot of honda models so you should no trouble getting some.

the tube type are honda only as far as i know

Erm, just the rings, one was a slightly different size - the rear bottom one - but I imagine they should all be the same.

you want 18291-216-000 for your fornt pipe gaskets

you want 18291-MR8-000 for the one between rear headers and the stubby (although I bet it is the same as the above)

your gaskets between front and rear pipes

18391-310-000

Check the doc library on the front page..it has the fiches and that is all you ever need

Trying to get it done today desperately, just picked up some Gaskets from CMC that looked the same size but they're a fraction too big. Rang the bloke, gonna pop back down and he'll refund me - the part numbers you listed he didn't have, the second one for the rears wasn't even in his system.

I'm going to go back down and try to find some really close matches, if I can't I'll just get them off Rick Oliver.

On an IL4 I'd have stuck them in by whatever means necessary, but considering what a massive ball-ache it is getting the exhaust in and out of a V4 I think you chose wisely.

Found some pretty perfect fits, the gaskets are in the holes, but OH MY FUCKING GOD I WANT TO KILL THINGS. Come on here to cool down and have a rant.

The front right pipe is in after much swearing, it's fairly tightened as well, but not fully.

The front left pipe is half in but it's at a bit of an angle which I can't fucking understand, don't want to tighten it much more (about 3mm gap between the collar and the header) in case it snaps due to the slight angle.

The rear is driving me insane. Rage. Pure rage.

Is the piece of metal that's a figure 8 shape which holds the rear pipes to the manifold meant to be flat?

Can someone comment on this? Doesn't look like it's going in straight to me, it's really tight at this point and I'm worried I'll snap something if I keep tightening.

If worse comes to worse I'm just going to have to take it all off and start again but I think I'll actually cry if I have to do that. Any help appreciated.

I cant work out what your doing wrong there, ive never had one go pissed. Are you sure youve got the old gasket out and the new one is sitting flush?
