I eventually started my wifes VFR after 3 months of not running, bike is running fine but the exhaust is popping at high revs, almost like its missing but the engine is running fine and during a 20 minute run today was pulling like a train.

As it was running fine before it was laid up i dont think its a jetting issue
As its running and pulling strong I dont think its electrical issue

Any suggestions at all? bearing in mind the bike is running fine

probably needs a longer run than 20mns your pos not that far from me i think and its been kinda damp but not that warm today, my nc farts n pops a bit if laid up a while your bike will probably ok with some fresh fuel and a longer run bud.

Top the tank up with some fresh petrol & take it for a long ride, should clear it out...

20 minutes was more than enough today as it wasn't exactly warm and the roads were in a right state!

If it's half decent tomorrow I will get properly toged up and go a decent run

New plugs wont hurt, they dont last long

yep winters taken its toll roads round here brutal also. potholes expansion joints open and the authorities idea of saving on rocksalt is red ash like football pitch stuff rverywhere rain doesnt clear it at all. good luck.
