Hi All,

Having bought an NC30 last August after passing my test after lusting for one since I was about 15 I was inspired by Kerm's NC30 renovation video on YouTube to get on and bring mine back to somewhere near factory fresh. Having stumbled my way to 400GB and Honda-Forums I thought there might be some of you that might be interested. I'll post up my progress so far over the next couple of days as and when I have a bit of time. For starters...

Before I started:





Stripped Pre-Service (Plugs, Oil, Coolant, Oil Filter, Air Filter, Sub Air Filter)

After I did the service I thought, well now I've started...

Which I guess is how most projects escalate. So taking a closer look at my clocks, mounting bracket and headlight bracket I thought they could do with a bit of love.





Whilst this was going on I decided I wanted to look at getting an aftermarket can to make better use of the V4 bark. So rather than cut my original system I bought one that had already been cut on fleabay. As always with the eBay "description of an item as compared to it's true condition" lottery you can see the box of treats that arrived.



Hence this little shopping trip...



Then this one. (Starting to get carried away)



I thought the bike looked quite cool like this. Till I noticed how apparent the 20 years of caked on shit in my radiators, plus their flaking paint looked.



It's like pulling an old sticker off something. You never know the shit that lies beneath.

Quick question. This is an R3K Jap import, so what colour should the front calipers be? I am a bit of a magpie so do like the idea of blinging them up gold when I spray the disc rotors whilst the wheels are off at the powdercoaters but on the other hand tempted to keep them stealthy black.

Thoughts? Answers?

Awesome, thanks. So if people take the piss out of me for being a bit pimp and magpie like, I can tell them that "I'm simply being true to my bike's heritage and performing a bit of sympathetic restoration" (and to jog on)

Gold it is!

Ok. Onwards and upwards. Clocks and headlight mounting bracket all wirebrushed, stripped back, degreased, primed and finished off in gloss black. The clocks came up really nicely with some Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber cleaner, especially the foam seating pad. The marks on the speedo are from where the clutch cable adjuster fouls it. Anybody else have this issue?



Also, after a lot of wirebrushing with a coarse brush and a decent mains drill, plus autosol and elbow grease, we have gone from this:

Also had more stuff turn up in the meantime from WeMoto, David Silver, and also Ling's Honda for the proper OEM stuff like the bar weights. Front wheel bearing kit for when the wheels are off to the powdercoaters, rear braided brake hose [although in the wrong clolour - I ordered clear rather than black so that's going back ] exhaust gaskets plus front to rear gaskets etc..
