basically when i was tightening up my rear manifold to the engine the far left manifold mount on the engine snapped off, what was weird was it wasnt even tight when i was tightening it up.

it has snapped all the thread off the mount, the manifold seals fine and doesnt move, will this have any lasting affects?

You should really sort it...but I think you know this!

So, the stud that mounts the stubby bit to the rear head has snapped? You can either weld a nut on it and unscrew it (sounds harsh, but probably easy)

See if there is anything stuck out and get mole grips on it?

I wouldn't leave it..

i bet it snapped off flush and while it may be ok for now it will prob start to blow. as such its simpler to change the manifold.
when i say simple, i mean, remove the wheel, remove the shock, lift the subframe upwards slightly, remove the exhaust and then swop the manifold. 2 hours work tbh.
they are a shite design for sure and one of the PITA jobs on a NC30 / RVF

Right on..so you'll be swapping a cylinder head.

It is not a big deal really. You'll get the chance to lap your valves in and clean up the casting flash in the ports. Valve clearances too..

Just takes a bit of time and a new headgasket.

I've got a few spare heads you can have for the price of postage and a beer on top.. They are heavy though..

:o Ouch, thats gotta hurt. I hate it when things like that happen. But as CMSMJ1 said, it's not too much of a problem just a few hours in the garage to get it sorted. Better to happen now than in the summer when the weather is better (not that it's any consolation) :(

Only problem is im not that expirienced with my bike mechanically, i've got the haynes manual and all but the furthest i've got is carb work and removing the shock and linkage (which i only did today)

The other thing is its my only mode of transport, im jobless at the moment but if i need to get anywhere for interviews or anything else i cant.
Annd the other other thing is i dont have a garage, i have to do all my work outside. The weather isnt favouring that at the moment.
Is there any way it can be welded, my dad a welder by trade so he may be able to do something with it.

Hi, could you drill down a bit further and tap the hole and use a longer stud? you have to be mega carefull not to hit the water jacket/oil ways! maybe worth a try if heads nakered already.
Cheers
