What do these marks mean?

Hi,

does anyone know why some of the bolts on your bike have either a yellow or white painted mark on the bolt head?

They seem to be on the heads of the bolts that require a torque setting.

As my rebuild nears completion, I'm adding these marks back onto the heads of the bolts that had them on prior to being cleaned but it would be nice to know why they were on there in the first place.

Do they signify, that during build at Honda’s Kumamoto Factory, the bolts had been tightened to their torque settings? And what is the significance between the yellow and white marks?

Regards jb1000rr

There normally put there just for the reason you described, personally i ignore them and use a torque wrench just to be sure in important places.

If it's any thing like when I worked at IBC it's a sign of quality control/spot checks.
