Hi all, Was just wondering, does anyone else have an aluminium alloy manifold on they're exhaust? I've been browsing the forums more and it seems more and more apparent that this is not a standard item.

i've got a couple of other odd bits and pieces on mine but nothing as non-standard as this.

its a GK73A btw

I would have thought the possible issues with heat would rule out an aluminium set of headers :?

me too, but it seems to be holding up quite well, But its an exact copy of the original ones, im just wondering if they were available as aftermarket parts or not, although i do quite love the idea of it not corroding at all :P!

LOL- take a look at thunderace's avatar (if thats what they are called) it is a end can from the very company that make the ally downpipes. If its the full system with original tail pipe the pipe is bent like a banana. :peace:

yea, thats what mine originally looked like till I chopped it up and welded a plated onto the end of it so i could fit a standard gsxr600/1000 can, Don't want to fail an mot on noise-related issues or get pulled :P

Will get a pic in a couple of minutes

BEET are known to have made alloy systems for various hondas. To my certain knowledge nc27 and nc30, so probably for the whole range since nc27 is relatively obscure.

Can't see why they wouldn't have made one for Suzuki too.

That little mid-silencer is weird! If it were on a more modern bike you would think it was a clumsy attempt to fit an inline catalyst!

edit: thinking about it, I reckon DIC also made alloy systems? that's the ones with the banana shaped cans.

ive tried a magnet on the pipes and it didnt stick, does that confirm they are alloy?

Some stainless steels are not magnetic. There are ways to tell, and anyone who knows what they are looking for will recognise instantly.

Stainless usually is shiny, but goes brown with time and heating. Alloy is softer if you tap it with any tools it will scratch. The welds on alloy can't usually be mistake for those on stainless.

Show us a close-up of the welds on that mid silencer, it should be obvious enough.
