Choke cable...

Hi guys,

I had a small issue with the bike this evening as it was revving quite high on tick over, think the problem lies with the choke cable so I taken it out and lubed it with wd40 - it's a lot freer now, my question is... it was routed right round the outside of the carbs and felt very tight especially at the back of the carbs. is this correct? Where does your cable route? Pics anyone?

Thanks again

Matt

Yeah does sound correct, mine goes round the back of the carbs, there are a few cable guides attached to the back of the carb's that the cable sit's in then curves round and clamps into the front choke "puller pusher thing"

Mine is quite tight, I was trying to get a origanal replacement when I did my carb rebuild but was told they are no longer made  .. I think elliott motorcycles are having some pattern one's made but I have made do with the origanal for now..

One problem I did have with my carbs after the bike was stood for sometime was the choke slide mechanism on the carbs had a tiny bit of corrosion on it and it was causing the choke to stay on a tiny amount causing poor running and higher revs.. Took me about 3 days to notice what the problem was  ...

Yep got handy with the WD40 and all appears to be fine now, all will be revealed on the commute tomorrow...
