hi guys just a quick one.
Finally got bike back together with new engine yesterday took it out and for some reason it was topping out at just over 100mph almost as if its restricted :S
With the old engine in it topped out at nearll 140mph so i dont see how putting a new engine in could be different, i have the gold label cdi box and im pretty sure the clock limiter has been by passed.
Help lol

Do you mean the revs are topping out at a lower speed, or the bike no longer reaches max revs in 6th?
If you mean the first and you haven't changed the gearing, maybe the clutch is slipping - although this should be obvious.
If you mean the second, sounds like you're down on power!

Weather seems great at the moment considering it's supposed to be deep winter, I'd be out riding if either of my bikes were road worthy!

yeah i mean it no longer reaches max revs in 6th,
only thing i have changed is the engine nothing else.
went for a ride on it today and noticed that behind traffic through a 30mph speed camera my speedo was showing just over 20mph :S and this was quite a few times, now im wordering if there is something up with the speedo drive?
Oh and erm yeah track day :D its anyday you want it to be lol nearest dual carriageway will surfice

Does it feel like it's down on power in gears 1-5? Are you sure the replacement engine is good - maybe check the valve clearances and test the compression?

What size front sprocket is on the new motor? Was it swapped back over from your old motor?

yeah the engine is solid runs and rides no problems at all, but i will check valve clearances.
Yeah brand new standard chain and sprockets are on with front sprocket form old engine.
My mind is totally boggled lol

are you using the old ones sprocket cover? new one might have a different ratio on it if it's been nicked from a '29 as a replacement.

The speedo is a seperate issue if the revs are also not reaching as high as before - unless you've somehow reactivated the clock restrictor, but as you say you haven't touched that.
