After some swearing, tool throwing, blood.... I did it !!!!!

Here's the video (4 small ones in 1), I used a Carbtune.
I filmed the first part in the morning with the sun in my back, but you can still see that the carbs are not balanced at all. After some trial and error, the second part of the video shows an improvement. And in the last part of the video, the carbs are balanced (so I think).

They are balanced, but your idle sounds erratic.

yes, it's erratic and I have no idea why. What can I check?

Sounds like it's time for a plug change, mine started to get a tiny bit erratic on tick over and that sorted it..

I got a set of NGK ER9EH coming soon, I will also check the pilot screws as they might be out...

Was thinking the same, are the carb rubbers in good condition / seated properly?

Good effort fella, I am just about to set off down my garage to balance my carbs and the video is a good reference point, could you put more info on the set up like how you managed to connect the pipes and how you adjusted the carbs to get them in sync(screw driver or specially modified tool).

Let us know if the plugs make the difference you are after or is it down to air being sucked through the rubbers.

I used a Carbtune for the job.
Steps:
remove tank | remove filter box | loose carbs rubber clamps | disconnect throttle cable, idle cable, choke cable | remove carbs | replace intake screws (easy to spot) with Carbtune's adapters and connect the vacuum hoses (with dampers, 10 cm away from intake) | fit the carbs (and everything else...) | start the engine and let it warm up to running temperature.

Open up the Haynes manual and follow the instructions for the balancing order.
Also bought the 90 degree screw driver, the cheap one they have and not the £42 one
