is that true? is that a way you can get the cert of 33bhp or less for a rider on a restricted license or is that above BS?

I don't know your laws in the UK, but that sounds like shit to me. You might be able to pull it off, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I don't see why it wouldn't work.... Just be careful though! 33bhp is enough for any new rider. The law is there for a reason!

just remember though, if you dont have any restriction washers at all and you get done, thats you fooked.
I went through the process of getting my restrictors fitted and getting it dyno'd ....and my insurance company still didnt accept it!
All i ended up doing was getting the old man to send them a company headad paper saying that he fitted them...no proof whatsoever of what power it is producing just that it is restricted.

Insurance comanys are funny like that, some dont ask some ask for a dyno and some dont, its good to have some restrictors though, especially if you havent ridden a big bike before.
I went straight into doing my 33bhp restricted licence and i put the washers in my nc30 for the first month to get used to riding a big bike and to get the feel of it......admittedly i have taken them out purely because i didnt want to do damage to the motor.

Am I wrong to think that you have to have an official restrictor cert from F1 international when it come's to 33bhp restriction on a higher power machine???

I thought they where the only place that could issue a cert after the restrictor was fitted by a official workshop hence they got away with offering kits that where 130 quid+ for a couple of washers. But they never asked to see a dyno graph the signature from the workshop manager was enough for them to issue the certificate and proof that the bike was now running at the legal power output..

I was also asked many years ago when plod pulled me over if I had a F1 Certificate..

No you don't need a certificate, you don't need a dyno printout, and you don't need a mechanic to fit the restrictors.

Insurance companies sometimes ask for some kind of proof of restriction (I never had this problem), but that is for their own satisfaction, not a legal requirement.

All the law states is that the bike must not produce more than 33bhp - the law doesn't care how a bike is restricted, who makes the restriction device or who fitted it. Many experienced riders agree that the FI kits are a rip-off designed to prey on the majority of new riders who do not know these facts.
