Hi all, I was just wondering what tyres are good for fast riding an getting your knee down etc? I normally buy bt090's and i find them amazing and i would love to keep using them but it is just not practical for me as i commute on my bike every day and go for blasts regulaly. The result of this is needing new tyres every 2 months (around £200 every 2 months)!

So are there any other tyres that are just as good and sticky as the bt090's and still practical for commuting on? I think not some how but i am keeping my fingers crossed for good news off you guys lol!

The short answer is no.
The best fix is to run 2 rear wheels..one with a hard tyre and the other for when you want to go shred...

You are killing a set in 2 months. That's some riding, how many miles are you covering? I've had a set of 090's last me 2 track days and about 4500/5000 miles. Granted, they are well past their best but definately the best (IMO) tyres for these bikes.

i have tried the old combination of front and rear BT92. did not inspire confidence.
tried a bt92 rear and a bt014 front, again did not inspire confidence, but was very hard wearing
now on a bt90 front and a bt92 rear and got my first knee down last week (it was the first time i really seriously went and tried it tho)
so short answer is NO IMO

Thanks for the replies people, i thought this would be the outcome. I think i'll just have to pay the money coz there the best in my opinion even though i haven't tried any other the just feel perfect. Viper i don't actually ride that many miles (i don't think) i do ride quite a bit though lol! I think they get worn out so quick coz i love the fast corners and roundabouts to much!

Ive got the same problem, done a rear out in 3 months, becuase ive been late every day so just banged it down the dual carriageways, the edges are quite tough wearing, but the middle is almost/on/past the limit.
I was going to look around for a harder rear, just for commuting and get another 090 eventually just for thrashing

Get a spare rear wheel/tyre combo off of Ebay - just picked up a rear with 4.5 mm of tread left to replace my on-the-limit old tyre for £34.98 posted?? New tyre would have been £80 fitted... Changing wheels takes 20 mins on NC24/30's, get a spare to abuse, lol
