I have just had the tank off to do some repair work and when unclipping the hoses from the fuel tap there were only two attached, one large one to the carbs and a smaller one at the bottom that went to the engine. There is however a place to attach a third hose, right on the back of the tap, any ideas where this should be connected to?

It shouldn't be connected. It's a vent.

You have a small one for vaccumn pipe and a Large one for fuel.

Phew, thanks for that was getting worried that I would have to dig around for a lost tube

Make sure you vaccumn hose is in good condition.. there only pennies to replace as overtime they go brittle, porus... then when they leak air they shut the fuel off and cause all sorts of running problems!
