So the nc30 is getting on a bit now, right? So whats the bike that'll take its place in years to come?

There's nothing on the horizon as far as I can see.

The most recently released bike that felt like a TROUSER FIREWORK, underdog, charming "400" that I've ridden is a new XJ6 - the unfaired version. I was so close to buying one, but opted for an odd ball MT03 instead.

I've searched for some years now to try and find a replacement 400, or something that forms a similar level of satisfaction that I do with my NC30 - but to no avail. There's been nothing for some time that really comes close in terms of build quality either. I'd even say that Yamaha are leading Honda in terms of finish these days, they certainly have a more interesting fleet of bikes on offer.

The days of making class bikes such as the NC is long gone, nearly all companys are all geared towards building bikes to budgets and to fit into certain markets. With the exception of ducati and MV i havent got excited about a bike release since the SP1, maybe im just stuck in the 90's but none of the latest and greatest sportsbikes would tempt money out of my pocket, well not again anyway

Well said ricky, Id have a street tripple R anyday. Speed tripples are way too bonkers for me.

As i suspected. I'm new to bikes (been into 4 wheeled hondas for the last 5 years) but i think the story is the same with their cars. Since the integra and the proper civic type R (ek9) they've not really produced anything of merit.

This pretty much makes up my mind that i'd like an NC30 in RWB for my first big(ish) bike.

Even if they did build a new CBR/VFR400 it would'nt have none of the rawness that these bikes have??

Think: Honda's take on re-releasing the 400 four back in 1989, the CB-1?

Not a fan... just another plastic missile?? Where was all the chrome? Just another "motorcycle".

I prefer bikes to look fast & just a leetle bit 'ard & nutty!

We are all riding 20+ year old bikes because - there will never be bikes quite the same, and that - is a very Good Thing Indeed...

I had a 675 not too long ago. Probably closest to a V4 in terms of the other inline bores out there. Didn't look too bad either, as they haven't aged too badly in the last few years.

But reliability.. quality... timeless air of pedigree race bike cool... erm no. And they're too fast to be proper thrashable (in my hands anyway).

Part of the reason why I like the 400s, and the XJ6, was the fun factor that comes into play when you can use more of what they have to offer, rather then teeter about in fear of (lack of) skill level, or the boys in blue.

Having said that, I still wouldn't mind a go on a Street Trip...
