Footpegs,

i want to change my footpegs,
they look shit, the rubbers are worn and in general they look dated.
for the time being im keeping the standard rear sets for now, but i want to change just the pegs what do i need as i cant seem to make head nor tail of what i need to buy just to replace that pegs.

I bought a pair of after market pegs, removed the shabby originals amd slid a round headed bolt through the middle of the hollow peg and bolted it to the back of the rearset.
Made it a fixed rearset, which I prefer anyway as you have the option of supporting your bike with axle stands.
Cost me a about £15, £12 for the pegs and £3 for the bolts.

Difficult to explain my method, if i get a minute I'll take some pics with it disassembled.

I bought some aftermarket OE looking items on a bit of a budget, to get the bike looking reasonable and get it through an MOT. At the time, I bought them as a 5 minute that'll do job, as they were from Hong Kong, or somewhere.
Quality isn't bad, although I'd expect them to suffer a little badly if the bike was used more often. But I haven't got any urgency to swap them over just yet. I'd probably save up and buy some standard ones someday.
Can still be found on Ebay too.

Here's more pics showing the type of bolt, the peg is hollow and the bolt tightens at the back of the rearset. The original set up has a collar that allows the peg to be tightened but still allow free movement, ie if it was all in one and tightened you'd not be able to change gear or brake.

Mick, I like the idea of using the bolt all the way through the peg but did you say you use them for axle stands? Looks a bit weak to me, are they?

The bolt I used is about 10mm in diameter so I'd say not. Granted it's long and so any weight is going to be exaggerated. I've had axle stands under them with no problems, handy when you're got the swing arm or shock off.
Imagine that I wasn't using the pegs in this manor and you wanted some temporary fix to support your bike while you took the swing arm off. You'd think that a 10mm bolt would suffice. Wouldn't you?

The first one will fit your bike in the way I've described, you'll have to reduce the end of the bolt so it fits in the recess.
