i'm after a set of front discs for my 99 r6 front end which is fitted to my fzr400
found a set of yzf1000 maybe thunderace, anyone know if these are the same discs as they look very similar

EBC fitment MD2074LS and MD2074RS

Yep, Thundercat, Thunderace and carbed R6s and R1s share the same discs, blue spot calipers and pads. Fork lowers are all the same too.

I think the calipers differ slightly - Blue spots come with either 32 or 34mm pistons (I think) the heavier bikes have a 34 / 34mm setup lighter bikes use 32 / 34mm

I've never delved that far into the blue spots. I've owned cats, Aces and carbed R6s and R1s, all were interchangable with no noticable difference in braking performance

The calipers are all interchangeable, but the R1 and R6 calipers are 'better' as they don't have the link pipe between the caliper halves like the Thundercat and Thunderace :)
