Anyone got a home made bead breaker that they could post pictures of so I can fabricate one? Need it to do bike and small car tyres so fairly general.
I don't have fantastic welding skills or access to first class workshop facilities, but I do have some offcuts of steel and space outside to weld something reasonably simple.
It'll not be used daily but just now and then so doesn't need to be heavy duty. Simpler the better.

If you want to borrow mine a couple weeks to copy it then let me know..

I work in Wakey now so can bring it up with me and hook up somewhere for you to collect it?

I had similar issues when I had to change my tyre...so I did a quick google search and also on youtube. Here are some simple home made solutions.

I used neither since I didn't have any offcuts lying around to construct anything useful...instead I used the tow end of my trailer, placed it on the tyre (the rim was bent without any chance of repair so I didn't care much for the scratching/damaging it), and jumped on frame of the trailer. After 2 bounces the bead came off :D...rather unorthodox, but worked as I hoped haha.

I'm planning on making a bead breaker similar to the first video, however using a metal.

Easy enough, about an hour to cut it out and half an hour to weld it and drill a couple of holes.

There you go. I don't do delicate, and I can't weld anything thinner than 3mm steel, I just blow holes through it.

I just put the wheel on the ground and use the side-stand of the bike as the bead braker... works really well too (of course this helps if you have multiple bikes)

Seen allsorts at bike meetings like side stands and spades. The spade one was well used by a racer of some success. Put it where you want it and then jump on it, until one day it went through the sidewall of a new tyre.

I used to have that problem. You need to turn the gas and wire feed down
