Can someone tell me if these pre-assy mountings on the lower engine crankcase can be used...? Can be found standard on both the NC30 and NC35.



Anyone on here that has tried it by bore it out and use it perhaps as some extra oil cooler/feeder channels for engine cooling? Could not find the correct details in the HRC manuals. Is this possible?

Any ideas, pros and cons, and your further thoughts are welcome

they are probably the same castings as the nc21&nc24 which use an oil cooler as that is were the pipes are fitted. they have chrome pipes running from there to the oil cooler and back which are held onto the frame by plastic clips.

Well, that is my thought too...I happen to have an oil cooler (not sure, but probably off an NC24) which has the exact same sort of mountings on it. I still wonder why Honda did not use it straight from factory, as these NC30 and NC35 engine casings are prepared for it

Back in '05/'06 I had a chat with a guy overhere that imported an brand new NC35 in 1996 straight from Japan. He used it for the Dutch Open Championships in the mid '90s and as there was no data about tuning an RVF400 (he was the only racer in that championship with an NC35 against 250cc 2-strokes and mostly ZXR400's!) he got to figure it out himself. Later he got in contact with HRC but they did not had any direct solution (read: budget!) for this idea. He told me about the oil cooler and about the visible mountings on the casings...he later done it and used it. He sold his racer and I got this oil cooler from him.

Wonder if anyone here tried it too?

You will need the UK NC30 pump or an NC24 pump as these feed those channels.

Once you hae that..then I suppose all you have to do is drill the cases...mount the pipes and away you go

I'v done this mod.as CMSMJ1 says uk30 or 24 pump,
I have seen the pipes on ebay for not to much money.

They are indeed non-drilled oil cooler feeds, all the NC13E engines share the same casting, which is why you have unused mounts on the 30 / 35 / 24 etc :)

The UK NC30 pump / NC24 pump are the same part number so you can use whichever one you can get hold of.

There is an oil cooler and lines from a 24 there in the UK for 15.00.

I have a UK 30 engine in my 35, and run the oil cooler, it really is very very good, i have no idea why HRC didn't run it as a standard item on all 30/35s'.
I had to bend the oil cooler pipes a little to get them fitted round the rad and then mount the oil cooler rad off the clock bracket. then cut a slot in the nose cone, i will get some pics tomorrow to show what i mean. It will be different if you are fitting the cooler to a 30 though.

i couldn't work out why it wasn't installed either.. the 24 got it. And the UK 30 got it.. I understand the JDM bike (24) as it runs in a hotter climate, but the UK 30 model?

I would say 'cost saving' but the NC30 wasn't exactly cheap? Unless the grey bike was chepaer?

Yer i agree Neo, the UK model wasn't for the cheapskates

I cant take pics of my setup, as i have the bike in bits again, but this topic, has some pics of the bike that show sort of how it fits and the oil pipe route.
