Hi all,
Been that long since I've been on here but I need some info. Quite a change to the forum. And defo for the better.
Anyways, I'm lookin to upgrade the brake setup on my NC30 and was wondering what the best options are? I know there are mentions of CBR600, SP1 and also Fireblade.
All help and advice greatly received.
Regards,
Dave.

You will need RO brackets to fit the calipers and longer braided lines to fit them. Other than that you're good to go. Some change their master cylinders to a 5/8 one. But the NC m/c works fine too.

SP1/2, 03-4 600rr and post-98 non-radial fireblade calipers all mount the same.
As hadies says, you need adapter plates for the calipers (Rick Oliver) and new brake lines that suit the bike they came off.
I would recommend upgrading the master cylinder to one that came from the type of bike you sourced the calipers from so that the system is matched.
A good upgrade!

Thanx for the replies.
Got any personal opinion as to what set up is the best of them? CBR600, SP1/2 or Fireblade? Which would offer the best stopping power with great feel?
Main reason I wanna upgrade my brake setup is cos no matter what I do mine just feel really tired with nowhere near enough feel at the lever and they are spongey as you like. And that's with a nice set of Galfer discs as opposed to the OE items.

Have you tried rebuilding the calipers and have you got braided lines already?
The standard calipers in good nick are good enough to be honest.
Also, if you haven't already tried it, cable tie the front brake lever to the bar as tight as possible and leave it for a day or two and tap the lines to encourage the air to come out.
My fireblade setup on my NC was leaving me with a really spongy lever and tried the cable tie trick and 2 nights later, a very firm lever and a very happy chappy.

Hiya,
I've got Goodridge braided hoses, Galfer wave discs, HH pads and I've had the brakes bled repeatedly. They are nice and firm for about as long as it takes to hit the brakes hard once. After that they are just spongey as hell and lack any initial bite at the lever.
Any other ideas?
I'll try the tying of the brake lever to the bar though as that seems like probably the only thing I've not done.
Dave.

Forgot to mention, yes I've had my calipers rebuilt with fresh seals, etc.

Possible master cylinder issue? Has that been rebuilt as well?

Sounds like the master cylinder has air in it and needs a good bleeding.
