The bike needs new tyres, first time I have ventured into this. First bike etc... excuses excuses..

from the search I have done it seems bt90s would be the best as I don't use it as a commuter. The thing I don't understand is all the numbers afterwards. Standard rear wheel so 18 inch. Had a look at M&P direct and they only do the bt90's in 17? Or is it special order..

if you have the standard wheels 17 front 18 rear then BT090s and Dulop Alpha 10s are the stickiest you can stick on the standard rims
personally i go for the alpha 10s and consider myself to be a progressive road rider and not one to wait around

Bridgestone also do the multicompound BT016 in a 160/60 18 size which grips just as well as a '90, but doesnt square off as easily... sadly not available in a 150/60 18...

so its between the alpha's and the bt90's? I take it that as a novice rider I won't be able to tell the difference?

I normally use m&p direct as they are local to me but they don't seem to stock the alpha 10's, any good places to look?

Personally, I've always held the Pirelli Sport Demons in high regard. I've used them on every 400 and odd-tyre-sized-bike I've ever owned.

FWR in london usually stock aplha 10's, pretty sure they do free delivery too

Do not discount maxxis presa supermaxx either. I was always a brand whore and would choose pirellis or bridgestone but i thought i would try these and they have been superb, after the 1st 20 or so miles they have been confidence inspiring and heat up like no other. Pretty cheap too at 118 a pair.

My back ground in downhill mountainbiking at a fairly high level..funnily Maxxis are the only tyres I'd ever use on my bike, superb tyres. Why have they not got the reputation in motorbikes?

Their new presa sport is a fantastic tyre. If you look around on the internet their are lots of good reviews on em, i like em and would recommend them. Much better profile than the pirelli diablo H i ran before which were good but for some reason could not use all the tyre.
