Hey all, looking at checking the plugs on my NC30. From what I've heard, the front two are a bit of a bastard to do. Any hints, tips or tools needed to make it easier.

I've got to buy the plug spanner to get to the rears anyway as I haven't got anything long enough to get to them either.

Thanks in advance, Phil.

I usually take off the top radiator to to get the front plugs out but I think others say that you can just unloosen it and swing it out of the way.

A deep/long 13mm socket and a decent ratchet set are all that you need to remove the plugs.

I managed to get to the front plugs by removing the top radiator bolts and one of the lower ones and move it forward slightly. As Cammo said, just a 13mm long/deep socket and ratchet (maybe extension bar) is needed to get them out.

:plus:

I do this too... but I don't remove the radiator completely, just some of the bolts and swing the rad forward.

Genuine plug spanner

I use one of those too.. holds the plugs better :-)

One of them "magnet on an telescopic pole" things or a "Japanese girlfriend with small hands" come in useful too for once you've unscrewed the plug.

+1 for magnet-on-a-stick (Maplins, £3 for a Rolson one) or if you're feeling tight then a lump of blu-tack up a long socket works as well....
