At least I can't find anywhere to plug it in and it doesn't appear to affect the bike in any way.

On RHS (as viewed when sat on bike) of the bike, just behind the rad. 2 pin plug with spade type terminals appears from the loom just alongside the carbs. Wire colours are black with blue stripe and plain black. Any idea what it's for?

of the top of my head i think it could be for lights? the blue wires on the NC30 are mainly for the lights.

i dont have my haynes to hand tho

on second thoughts it could be the fan or the front ht coils.

does the bike run?

and can you get me a picture buddy. im not to familiar with NC24s but i am with wiring

That may be the coils but I'm unsure as you say it doesn't affect the bike running.
Is there a single wire going to the water pump coming from the loom at the same place? if there is it is most likely the front right coil connection. I think....

The bike is running fine. I'll grab a pic later. It's too short to go anywhere near any lights and I don't think it will reach the front coil pack either. I don't recall seeing a socket on the coil pack though

I guess it could be for the fan, I've not had it running hot enough yet to tell if they kick in or not. Will check that also.

I think you're right!

It's a black plug with two wires? Could be the fan.

But this runs awfully close to the coils, but as you note, all 4 of the coils use rubberised spade connectors.

Easy way to check the fan.

Turn the igntion on.

On the LHS of the bike (when sitting on it) and about half way up the radiator you'll see a single black wire with a rubberised spade on it that goes to a thermoswitch.

This is the fan cut-in switch, if you remove the spade connector and earth it (touch it against a bracket on the frame, the fan will cut in.

If it doesn't your fans either unplugged becuase of that plug or you have a dead fan

Will an NC21 or NC30 fan fit?

is there only one rad on the NC24?

youll be ok without a fan in the winter, its just hot summer days or when your stationary when youll need one.

i tend to switch bike off in traffic or filter out as quickly as possible, so you can get moving again.

What I might do in that case is fit a manually controlled one next time the bike is apart. Thanks guys
