Can we put together in a list of Popular worthwhile NC30 Jap Import modifications (Budget in mind) and approximate costs of the upgrade.

I'm currently about to rebuild my NC30 and want to do some of the worthwhile and easy win upgrades.

For example:

Suspension - RS250 Rear Shock - £250

Brakes - Braided Hoses - £60

Will be interesting to see things that people have done

UK MPH speedo (if you can find 1) to de-restrict the bike: £30 - £60

or.....................

HRC or posh firm etc de-restrictor plug-in box: £10 - £50
forget the £100+ HRC boxes, they aint worth it, get 1 cheap, they are out there.

Rear shock rebuild: £100

Full front brake upgrade to SP1, Fireblade 929 or CBR600RR set up + Rick O brackets: £200 max

:plus: on the 14t front sprocket.

with reference to the brake comments, i have just put a set of decent standard brakes on a bike with good brake pads, fresh brake fluid and there are better that my SP2 setup with braided lines and EBC discs!!

Refresh your calipers and lines and fresh fluid. Use decent pads.

14T sprocket is a cheap solution to get "better" acceleration

Suspension refresh is always a good idea for any 20 year old bike. Whether it be an all singing and dancing £500 shock or £80 rick oliver fork kit and shock refresh.

and exhaust, either can or system and then get it set up with the right jetting.

if its off the road then do valve clearances.

Would rather have a mechanically A1 bike that does what its meant to rather than some bodykit covered piece of tat that runs like a dog!

Fitting a fuel pump seemed to really sort out my mid range poke also 45 quid for the rvf carbs was well worth the layout.
One thing that people always seem to over look is tyre pressures, get it wrong and all the cash spent in the world will not make a difference when it slides down the road
of all my bikes owned the NC30 is the most sensitive to correct pressures

So far then I reakon I'll do the following:

Brakes - Overhall and rebuild the standard brakes

Suspension - New Rear Shock possibly nitron (Can anyone recommend anything else)
Front rebuild with Rick Oliver fork kit
Possibly a rear jack up (Adivise Please)

Wheels - Freshly powdercoat standards wheels

Exhaust- Yamamoto half system (already have waiting) with tyga end can

Carbs - Rejet to suit half system and can
Raise the needles
Drill the slides

Fairings- Suzuka Tyga front with standard lowers and rear

Will soon start a rebuild thread when I get some more bits together. Don't want to keep people hanging for months.

If I've missed some worthwhile upgrades please add

Paint - Not yet sure

Great thread wacko jacko! Some useful info in here, cheers chaps, just a couple of questions., sorry t hijack your thread mate!

1. With the T14 sprocket - this increases acceleration, does it affect top speed? And where do you get them from?

2. Ive heard a lot about thee derestrictor boxes etc, ive seen the hrc cdi's, are these the same things? i can only find ones that are £199+!

Thanks

Tom
