Hi there,

When I start my bike I have to use the choke every since time, if I don't it'll run if a bit then slowly cut out, what is the cause of this?

Thanks,

Kirsty

Hi Kirsty,
I think that it is very common to have to use the choke, i sure do.
I always use the choke, and "NO" throttle, let it run for a few mins and it's fine. ;)
I really dont think that it's an issue to be honest.
I think you will get more responses if you post in the V4 section,
How long have you had the bike, and do you have nay other issues other than what you are saying?
Also everyone loves to see pics
Cheers

I think you find there are a lot of similar problems that members are having with RVF'S.
It will be down to the fact the bike has been laid up and fuel thats was left in the carbs has stopped carbs working properly. I am in the process of sorting mine out. The carbs need to be stripped and cleaned using a good ultrasonic cleaner (big enough to get all 4 carbs in). You have to be make sure the emulsion tubes go back in the right place( front and rear pairs are different). The choke mechanism is removed on all four carbs to allow the cleaner to clean the small passage ways.
