I have a couple of carb related questions I'm hoping you can help me with

1st is were is the best place to get some new carb inlet mounting rubbers

2nd is I have a Morgan carb tune on order was wondering how easy they are to use and if anyone has any tips on how to use them

I think David silver spares sells the rubber inlet mountings

David silver Spares do sell the rubbers, there about £5 each.

Not sure if Rick O or any of the other sellers on here do.. check the 'approved traders' section of the main forum for their information.

The morgan carb tune is simple to move, you turn the adjusting screws on the carbs until all 4 of the bars line up.

doing this on a VFR is tricky unless you buy the right-angle screwdriver too as the screws are underneath the carbs in the middle of the 'V'.

If like me you have small hand you can get in there with a 7mm socket and / or small flat screwdriver and turn them by hand.

Look on youtube for vids if your stuck but it really is a doddle.. only 3 screws to adjust too as one carb isnt' adjustable, you set the others to this one

Just got a set for my RVF, £13 for both cylinders #4 & #1 + £9 for both cylinders #3 & #2. Add VAT & post to that.
The Morgan carbtune is supposed to be easier & more accurate than the dial type stuff; I think it's prettty much "plug&play".

When using the morgan carbtune is it much of a pain to do it without having the hrc fuel tap mod. Or should I do the mod before sync'in

the mod is a bad idea whatever the weather...and has nowt to di with balancing the carbs.

Not sure what you are thinking of to be fair..why does the fuel need fiddling to balance the carbs?

I reckon if you had a straw poll on here about the fuel tap mod, 80-90% of people would say keep it standard.

Don't you have to connect the carbtune to were the vacuum pipe should be on the engine. If so how do you get fuel into the carbs without the vacuum pipe?

You use a pop bottle or something else as a temporary tank, rather than bugger up a perfectly good tap.

Or, you get your assistant to give the vac hose a suck now and again while they are holding the tank up for you...

Realistically, once you start the bike and get it warmed up to check vacuum (get it nice and hot, little point checking it when the engine is cold!) if you take the tank off it will still run for several minutes before the carbs run out of fuel, so you shouldn't have any issues setting the carbs with the tank off.
