Project Nessie

Hello all,
I've been having a nose round on here for a little while picking up some tips and info and finally getting my backside in gear to make a start on my 'project'.
To start off, a bit of background.
Last year, times were tough, 20% paycut and needing some cheaper transport, a mate of my old man had 'some old bike' he was getting rid of. No clue as it it's make, model, age or condition, but I thought £100 was worth a punt for something that would get me around on the cheap (I'd not had a road bike for 15 years).
So my old man turns up with a shabby, but complete NC30 in the back of his van
. I could not believe it!
Some new plugs and battery and it started after about 15 seconds on the starter. You honestly could have knocked me down with a feather. Cleaned up the calipers and a service and in it went for the MOT
- straight through - and that was it, job done transport from March to December last year 
In January, things return to normal at work, so getting paid properly again I get back in the car (for all the snow and ice, which was a relief) and the viffer goes in the garage until the sun shines again. Some light use over the summer, but not really doing it justice, and a house move later have now left me in the position of thinking it would be a real shame not to treat the little beauty to some TLC and a bit of a makeover.
So here's the plan (and not necessarily in this order!)...
Strip the rear end and free up the seized chain adjuster and service the squeaking linkage/shock.
New chain, sprockets and sort the extremely feeble rear brake.
Repair the cracked fibreglass (rolled forwards off the sidestand one morning
) and paint.
Fill, rub back and paint the mud guard, rub back and paint the tank.
Strip and paint/powder coat the wheels.
Strip clean and sort the brakes (braided hoses, decent pads, etc)
Strip and overhaul the engine (with the posibility of trying to make it go a touch better)
I had dabbled with the idea of changing to a 17" rear wheel, etc and different (or original plastic) bodywork, but I think budget will limit me to making good what I currently have. I will try and take some decent shots and keep things ticking along over the winter with a view to having it well sorted by the time it starts warming up again and getting to some track days on it.
First question I have for you guys is, can you recommend a good supplier of parts? Initially I am thinking of things like rear linkage bearings, gasket set, valve seals, chain & sprockets, etc. Any advice would be much appreciated.
I'll get some starting photos on later this week before it starts coming apart.
