NC30 plugs and leads queries

Just popped the plugs out of the rear cylinders on my NC30 to replace them with genuine Honda NGK items but have some questions.

Firstly do you check the gap of new plugs or just fit them? I 've got a Haynes manual for the bike and although it shows how to remove plugs and check the gap it does not say anywhere what the gap should be! I don't have an owners manual for the bike so can't check that.

The two plugs I've removed are kind of strange. The plug from the near side cyclinder had what looks like copper wire wrapped around the top (terminal) of it and the plug from the off side cylinder was covered in white powder as was the the entire area around it and the plug cap where it attaches to the plug. I'm pretty sure it's not coke so what could it be, bit of waters got in maybe? Both plugs electrodes seem to be a brown colour which would suggest it was running ok last time it did run (3 years ago?).

I've never checked the plug gaps but they are 0.6-0.7 as per the Haynes (If my memory works)

Soinds like some corrosion of the HT leads - might be wirth getting them cleaned and see how nicely they connect to the plugs

Thanks for that, couldn't find it in the Haynes. I'll check the gaps and then wack them in and hope for the best with the leads as I'd have to order new leads and I just want to start getting the thing back together as I've had it a year this month and yet to hear her run!
