Hi Guys,I hope you can help me with this one.I am trying to get my rvf400 to run without a petrol tank so I can tune it.The problem I have is, I,ve put a funnel on the petrol feed pipe and when I try to fill it with petrol it just runs straight back out of two small pipes inbetween the carbs.Do I have to create a vacuum or are the floats stuck open in the carbs.

when i run min without a take i use a homemade feeder bottle made from a litre catrol oil bottle, and a fuel filter, it then runs into the t piece to feed both sets of carbs,

i dont know where exactly where you say the leak is from but thats not right.

They are the over-flow pipes.

Your floats sound stuck indeed.

Put a bit of petrol in them (not enough to make it over-flow) and tap the sides of the float bowls with a screwdriver handle.

this might unstick them.

If not you'll need a strip and clean. (probably a good idea anyway if your tuning it)

Thanks guys,The bike has been standing round for a long time due to rebuilding her.I think I will clean the carbs to be 100%.Do you know the best place to get a carb kit from?Is it main dealer?

The only thing you would normally replace when overhauling the carbs is the float bowl gaskets, unless of course something else is damaged.

Rick-O on here sells float-bowl gaskets cheaper than anywhere else.
