I'm not one for posting threads about racing, so this for the sake of the site, this will be a thread about TESTING my bike on a closed road
This morning after dropping my gf off at work (Thailand) I rolled up to some traffic lights and there was a rather tasty CBR400RR waiting beside me, i exchanged what little Thai words i had with him and the lights changed, so off we went.
I wasn't sure if he buggered his start up, so i held back and waited for him to catch me before rolling back the throttle again, i must say (although both bikes are identical displacements) i was surprised at how well the little V4 did against the inline 4 :)
It was only once i reached 5th gear he started to pull past me, it doesn't help that i'm a fatty and he's a skiny Thai i guess. Funny thing was, when he was passing me his wallet flew out of his trousers and hit me square on the visor :S

Are CBR400RR's similar in power, i am forever tinkering with my bike to try and make it a bit faster, but forgetting that it's only a 400 and i have to stop expecting it to give the same thrills as my previous bikes. I guess if a CBR400RR is slightly faster than a VFR400 then my bike is running about right then, if mine should have whipped his hide, then more tinkering is required :D

As far as I'm aware the inlines r faster on the straight but v4 is faster round corners? Don't know some one told me that once. As for power I would had tough they had the same if not very similar power. V4 to has more torque tho I think

NC24 / NC30 / CBR400R NC29 (Post 1990) all make 4.0Kg-f torque and 59ps from factory.

The post 1990 CBR's have the T shaped vaccum sliders (like the ZXR / NC35) for improved throttle response.

Gearing isn't that much different either.

Only thing is there both old bikes.. one could be in better shape than the other.

it'd be good to drag two decent condition bikes that are in known factory form (bhp / etc)

If they were both stock and running well I don't think thered be anything in it.

Yeah there was very little in it, his bike was wearing a similar k-conversions kit to mine, so i would assume with the money spent on the bike it should also be mechanically sound too.
He might of got a jump on me when i let of to let him catch up with me, but only marginally pulled past me once back on the gas.

I bet his wife / gf kicked his ass when he got home, as his wallet hit me in the visor when passing me lol :D

Go pick his wallet up and spend his money on improving your bike

I've had both bikes and the NC30 seems much better to me - it pulls harder from low down so I would have thought that it would be the better bike

Found out later today that the rear right HT lead had come away from it's contacts within it's boot.
Meaning it was only partially firing on that cylinder, all fixed and now the bike feels like it has 25% more power :D

back when i was only a young fella, i had a nc29 and my mate had a nc30. we had a drag and both bikes were the same until we realised what speed we were doing

yerh ive had both not much in it they just make there power different both good bike's
