Im picking up a gk76 on Friday in the best colours, blue and White with the red/orangey number boards but it's gonna need a little bit of work and was hoping you'd be able to point me in the right direction of what to start with.

It's been sat a year in a garage and the battery is flat, iv got a new ytx9bs ready Togo in it already but on top o this the seller says it's hunting for an idle in-between 900-1000 rpm but I'm guessing this may be due to crud In The carbs? Old fuel etc.
So I was thinking is my best bet to drain the tank an put new fuel in it then add a carb cleaning additive an run a tank or two through first before I try anything else? And would it be a good idea to put new plugs in it at the same time and which ones! Cr9ek or cr8ek I have both to hand but which is the best as iv seen conflicting advice some saying the 8's will help sort out a rough idle and some saying the 9's are what should be in it :0/

Hi m8, Always good to give a good service if the bike has been sitting around for a while. Do you know how old the oil and filter are?
CR8EK or EIX are the right plugs as the 9 is too cold.
If fuel has been sitting in the carbs it may have solidified so it may be an idea to remove and clean them out fully. I would probably drain them and as you said replace the fuel and run it through to see how it runs first though.

Im sure other (more mechanically minded) members will give you a full list of things to do/check

Thanks form learning up themplugs for me, oil an filter will of been in it at least a year so I'm gonna drop the oil an replace the filter, already have these parts already lol

I'll drain the tank first an run the bike till the rest of the fuel has run thru and it's dry then pop some fresh stuff in wi some carb clean an see if that sorts it, I just hope that will sort it an indont need to replace orings in the carbs :0(

Yeah I have, I really hope it isn't because of those! Alhough my mates a triumph trained mechanic somim sure between us we could sort it, best case scenario is definitely just old petrol with it being stood lol

My fingers are far to fat to be stripping carbs, although i think it would explain why Immgetting it so cheap
