Qs on 17" rear wheel conversion

due to my complete lack of funds of late, looks like i wont be getting the nc30 on the track this year, so my plan is to have it ready for nxt year, but as i will have the extra time and money before summer nxt year, i am thinking about sticking a 17" rear on my baby, as it will be handy for rubber, doubling as a second road bike and all.

so what all is invlolved? i want it to have a similar sitting position as my nc35, which i have jacked up in the rear 30mm by the nitron shock and dropped through the front forks 5mm. my intension for the nc30 is to get a ride height adjustable aftermarket shock, but that wont be untill nxt year, if at all.

so what do i do about the linkage to help sort out ride height and handling in the time being? do i replace the dogbone and linkage with the nc35 one, or can i just simply modify the linkage on the 30(i know its no problem to do this with a 18" wheel on, but no idea what is best with the 17" rear stuck on).

sorry this is new territory for me. not a clue

if you get a ride height adjustable shock that is all you will need.

as i say, doubt i be able to afford an aftermarket shock untill nxt year so looking a quick fix.

on searching, i remembered about the rose jointed adjustable linkage that v4chris(i think it was him??) came up with. lovely piece of kit. couldnt find any details of how to make it on this or old site. any thoughts?

yeah the rose joint linkage was cool, and would prob be the best way to get a 'ride height' adjustment facility,

but i think you can also use the rvf dogbone linkage with the standard vfr shock, and this will give you your extra clearance.

the more i think on it the more the rose joint idea would be the best, but it could be costly. if anybody has any info on it please let me know.

was it def v4_chris that did this and had the post in the old forum ? (couldnt find it during my search)

yes - Chris Goddard - he is on here...

Get an RVF link is the easy fix..and then get the height adjustable shock when dollar allows

cheers. think he has done it with his 17"delkevic aswell, so will be good to hear feedback on hole distance he has used. i was meant to drop his and mine down to my dad to get it sorted out in his work, but as yet, not been down in a while and not had a moment to get off my arse proper and take my linkage out. sorry rhory :( .
